Refactoring Code


The original goal with 'Knight Saga' was a recreation of the text only RPG 'Saga' that I had coded on the family's Commadore C64 back in the 80's.  As it was for my brother's birthday, I had a hard deadline the code got really sloppy at the end so now that it's time to start adding things and improving some of the gamefeel problems it has I'm finding it difficult to proceed.

Some of the problems are foundational, as a shortcut I used Game Maker Studio's 'Events' system to handle player I/O instead of writing my own so to fix the apparent 'hitching' you feel when trying to move the character around on the map I'll have to start there... which means dealing with all of the cross-dependencies between all of the game objects.

And you do not want to see how many different functions are spread out across nine different script files. XD

I certainly have my work cut out for me!  Sigh, time to start dealing with the sins of past me.
